Cargo Homes-A new definition of living space
A Florida man has found a unique way to redefine the living
space by using shipping containers to build “cargo homes.”
According to MyFoxTampabay, Steve Sawyer, owner
of New Generation Builders, takes cargo containers
to build “cargo homes” ranging in size from 160sqft to 320sqft.
The cargo space is designed to include space for a kitchen,
bedroom, and bathroom; as well as the “can’t do with outs” (windows, air conditioning, and hot water) in a home.
Sawyer told MyFoxTampabay that the containers are “hurricane proof.” The containers are made of steel and therefore sturdier
than the bricks and stucco used to build homes in Florida,
where hurricanes are prevalent.
Sawyer further stated that his goal is to build larger homes,
which he hopes to accomplish by stacking multiple containers together.
The “cargo homes’” price ranges from $37,000 to $57,000.
